Varicocele Diagnosis, Doppler Ultrasound
Doppler ultrasound allows real-time observation of blood flow,
clearly confirming whether reflux is present.
This enables accurate diagnosis even of varicoceles not visible externally.
The veins coming from the testicles branch into many thin vessels,
forming a tangled network called pampiniform plexus.
These veins regulate scrotal temperature and play an important role in maintaining testicular function.
Varicocele
Varicocele occurs when the valves inside the testicular veins fail,
causing blood to flow backward instead of to the heart, pooling in the veins.
This leads to dilated or twisted veins,
and in severe cases, it can even be visible to the naked eye.
Easily Overlooked Varicocele Symptoms
Varicocele, More Common Than You Think
Varicocele occurs in about 15% of all adult men,
making it a relatively common condition. It is found in 35% of men with primary infertility and 80% of men with secondary infertility. However, because it is not always visible, diagnosis is often delayed.
Early testing is important for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
*Primary infertility: never having achieved pregnancy*Secondary infertility: previously pregnant, but no longer able to conceive

Non-Surgical Treatment, Varicocele Embolization
A catheter is inserted through the arm to reach the problematic vein,
where embolic material is injected to block blood flow.
Using platinum coils and a sclerosing agent,
the abnormal veins causing varicocele are sealed,
preventing further blood flow into them.
The blocked veins are gradually absorbed by the body over 6–12 months
and naturally disappear.
