Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Can I live a normal daily life with a drainage catheter?

A

Not all patients are discharged with a drainage catheter. In some cases, a one-time drainage procedure on the same day is sufficient, and no catheter insertion is required. Even if a drainage catheter is inserted, most daily activities are still possible. However, it is very important to keep the insertion site clean and to prevent infection. You should also carefully monitor the amount and color of the drainage, and if any abnormalities are noticed, visit the hospital immediately.

Q

Do ascites or pleural effusion always require drainage?

A

The treatment approach for ascites or pleural effusion varies depending on the underlying cause, such as liver disease, cancer, or heart failure. Not all patients require drainage catheter insertion; in some cases, medication or careful observation may be sufficient. However, if symptoms such as shortness of breath, abdominal distension, or pain become severe, drainage catheter insertion can help relieve symptoms.

Q

Will fertility improve after varicocele treatment?

A

Varicocele treatment can help improve sperm count and motility. Although results vary among individuals, studies have reported improved semen parameters and increased pregnancy rates after treatment. However, the effectiveness may differ depending on each patient’s condition, so it is important to consult a specialist when deciding on treatment.

Q

Do I always need surgery if I have varicocele?

A

Not all cases of varicocele require surgery. If symptoms are mild or there is no discomfort, regular follow-up observation may be sufficient. However, if there is pain, testicular atrophy, or fertility-related issues, treatment should be considered. In recent years, less invasive procedures such as embolization have been increasingly used as an alternative to surgery.

Q

How is a PICC different from a chemoport?

A

A PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) is inserted through a peripheral vein in the arm and advanced into a central vein. It is generally used for medium-term treatments, such as several months of chemotherapy or intravenous antibiotics. In contrast, a chemoport is implanted under the skin and is more suitable for patients who require long-term treatment, often for several years. A PICC has the advantage of being relatively easy to insert and remove, but it requires more careful maintenance and carries a slightly higher risk of infection. Therefore, the choice between the two depends on the expected treatment duration and the patient’s overall condition, as recommended by the medical team.

Q

Can I take a shower and carry on with daily activities after having a chemoport inserted?

A

Once the incision site has healed, showering and normal daily activities are possible. However, immediately after the procedure, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise or applying strong pressure to the insertion site for a certain period of time.

Q

Do you perform treatment immediately after a varicose vein examination?

A

No. For varicose veins, an accurate diagnosis is the most important step. Therefore, a detailed examination is performed first to properly assess the condition. At Morning Garden, we take into account each patient’s lifestyle and health status to recommend the most appropriate treatment options tailored to individual needs.

Q

Will there be pain after varicose vein treatment?

A

This may vary by individual, but some discomfort can occur until the treated vein gradually disappears. In particular, during the first 2–3 days after the procedure, the area may feel firm and tight, and symptoms may temporarily worsen for about a week. However, normal daily activities are generally possible, except for strenuous exercise or heavy physical labor. Full recovery usually takes about one month. At Morning Garden, we provide regular follow-up vein examinations at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after treatment to ensure safe recovery.

Q

Can varicose veins be treated with medication alone?

A

Varicose vein supplements may help improve vascular health and provide partial symptom relief. However, they are not a fundamental treatment and are considered supportive care for patients who do not yet require immediate procedures. Since varicose veins are a progressive condition that does not improve on its own, regular monitoring and timely treatment are essential.

Q

How does coverage under private health insurance work?

A

Coverage may vary depending on the type of insurance plan you have and the year you enrolled. Since insurance claims require identity verification, it is most accurate to confirm directly with your insurance provider. If you need any documents for your claim, please let the reception desk know during your visit and we will assist you.
